Rectifying traffic safety violations among students
(Baonghean.vn) - In recent years, traffic accidents among students have been on the rise. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen preventive measures and raise awareness among traffic participants.
On the afternoon of November 2, under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister - Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee Tran Luu Quang, the Government held an online conference on the topic of ensuring traffic safety for students.
At Nghe An bridge, comrade Le Hong Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Head of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee chaired the conference.

Over the years, Party committees at all levels from the central to local levels have identified the work of ensuring order andtraffic safetyfor students is a central and regular political task. Thanks to that, the strength of the entire political system has been promoted, the participation of the people has helped the state management of order and traffic safety for students to have many positive changes.
However, the situation of students violating traffic safety laws is increasingly common and has many complicated developments, especially the phenomenon of middle school and high school students going to school by electric motorbikes, motorbikes, motorbikes, not wearing helmets, driving in a row, speeding, recklessly overtaking, weaving, causing public disorder, not obeying traffic lights, pushing and pulling other vehicles, using phones while driving, especially driving without a driver's license, is quite common, increasing the risk of traffic accidents.
According to a report by the Ministry of Public Security, from the end of 2022 to now, there have been 881 traffic accidents involving students (accounting for 8.96% of traffic accidents nationwide), killing 490 people and injuring 827 people. Compared to the same period in 2022, there was an increase of 8 cases.
The data shows that traffic safety violations by students under the age of driving motorbikes and scooters account for 47.59%; traffic accidents involving driving vehicles over 50cc account for 71.31%.

At the conference, the presentations of the sectors also pointed out a number of reasons leading to the continued increase in traffic accidents. That is, the propaganda, dissemination and legal education activities are not effective, many students are not fully equipped with knowledge and skills to protect themselves when participating in traffic; many parents and schools are not fully aware of their responsibilities in this work.
Traffic organization at the school gate and inside the school still has many shortcomings. The coordination between school - family - society to manage and educate students to comply with the law on traffic safety and order is still ineffective. Some parents are still irresponsible, leading to the fact that when students leave home, the family considers it a matter of society and the school; when students leave school, the school considers it a matter of society and the family.
Since the beginning of the year, through inspection and control work, the Traffic Police force of Nghe An Province has detected and recorded 1,335 cases of students violating traffic safety order, accounting for 1.9% and fined more than 1 billion VND. In which, the main violations are not wearing helmets, alcohol concentration, speeding, carrying more than the prescribed number of people, and not being old enough to drive a vehicle.
After detecting and handling violations, the Provincial Police sent notices of traffic safety violations to schools to coordinate in educating traffic safety awareness and taking disciplinary action against violators.
Concluding the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang highly appreciated the contributions of delegates and commended a number of localities for their many ideas in implementing solutions to reduce traffic accidents in schools.

After this conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang said that the Government will issue a Directive on the issue of ensuring traffic order and safety. In addition, he also reminded localities and schools to propagate so that each traffic participant is not negligent or subjective and boldly include this content in the year-end review of a number of units and schools.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang also suggested that in the coming time, the Public Security sector needs to strengthen patrolling and control work, promptly detect, prevent and handle cases of students violating the driving of motorbikes and mopeds when they are not qualified and do not have a driving license. At the same time, continue to innovate the content and form of propaganda, dissemination and education of traffic laws, diversify propaganda measures, and apply social networks to make it easy for students to remember, understand and implement.
