Portrait of suspect who beat 4-year-old girl causing brain injury
Long II had a criminal record for illegal possession of drugs and beat a 4-year-old girl, causing a traumatic brain injury and death, because he thought the victim was "rude" to him.
June 23, City PoliceVinh Long(Vinh Long province) said the investigation agency is consolidating the case file to prosecute Nguyen Phan Phi Long II (29 years old, residing in Ward 5) for the act of intentionally causing injury leading to death.
Police said Long II had a criminal record for illegal possession of narcotics. This young man and Phan Huu Duyen, both from Vinh Long, were close friends.
In early May 2018, due to family circumstances, Mr. Duyen sent his 4-year-old daughter to Long II to take care of.

By the evening of June 16, Vinh Long City Police received a report of a case with signs of crime when a 4-year-old girl died from a traumatic brain injury. During the investigation, the following afternoon, Long II came to the police station to confess and admit to the crime.
Long II stated on June 16 that while sitting at home talking, the girl was rude to him, so he got angry and hit her in the face. The girl fell and hit her head on the tile floor, vomited, rolled her eyes, and lost consciousness.
Long II took Han to Vinh Long General Hospital for emergency care but she died that same afternoon.
After taking statements, the police agency consolidated the case file to initiate criminal proceedings, prosecute the accused for investigation and handling according to regulations.
