Midfielder from Nghe An, Nguyen Huu Son: Growing up from hardship

Born and raised in the mountainous district of Con Cuong (Nghe An), Nguyen Huu Son was admitted to the T&T - VSH Youth Football Training Center located in Cua Lo town. It did not take long for the player born in 1996 to prove his talent. Nguyen Huu Son was continuously present in the U17, U19 and U21 Hanoi T&T (now Hanoi FC) teams participating in the finals.

The tournament that Nguyen Huu Son left the most impression on the experts and football fans of the country was the 2015 National U19 Finals. At the tournament held in Vinh city, Nguyen Huu Son won the title of "best player", even though U19 Hanoi FC only won the runner-up position (losing to U19 PVF in the final match).

Nguyen Huu Son's rapid growth in the First Division team of the People's Public Security (in 2015) and the youth teams of Hanoi FC caught the attention of coach Nguyen Duc Thang - captain of Hanoi FC (later renamed Saigon FC).

The 2016 season was the first time Nguyen Huu Son competed in the most prestigious arena of Vietnamese football, V.League.

At the age of 20-21, with his inexperience, Nguyen Huu Son often had to be a friend of the bench. The total playing time of the midfielder born in 1996 in V.League 2016 and V.League 2017 was only 248 minutes. However, Nguyen Huu Son did not show any signs of boredom or disappointment, but instead tried to practice more to win the trust of the team's coaching staff.

Finally, Nguyen Huu Son's sweat has paid off. In the season that just ended not long ago, the 22-year-old midfielder always appeared in Saigon FC's matches. Especially, thanks to the guidance of Coach Nguyen Thanh Cong, who used to coach Nguyen Huu Son at the T&T - VSH Youth Football Center, the player wearing the number 27 shirt has made visible progress.

In V.League 2018 alone, Nguyen Huu Son played a total of 22 matches (started 18 matches). 1424 minutes and 2 goals are very positive achievements of Nguyen Huu Son. Although he did not score many goals, his contributions to Saigon FC are not small.

The opening goal in the match against Hanoi FC in round 6, almost helped Saigon FC leave Hang Day Stadium with 3 points in hand (1-1 draw). The goal that sealed the 2-1 win against Than Quang Ninh right at Cam Pha Stadium in the penultimate round (round 25), contributed to helping the team led by coach Nguyen Thanh Cong stay in the league 1 round early.

In addition to his direct contributions to the goals, Nguyen Huu Son also shows his importance in the overall playing style of the Thong Nhat Stadium team (sharing the field with Ho Chi Minh City Club). Possessing skillful individual techniques, excellent tactical vision and the highest fighting spirit, the 22-year-old midfielder always does well in both attacking and supporting defensive roles. Nguyen Huu Son is the "hardworking bee" of the Saigon team.

Unable to rest on his laurels, returning home to rest after a tough season, Nguyen Huu Son still did not forget to train his body with light exercises. In response to the compliments from friends and fans, Nguyen Huu Son only humbly replied: “I still have to try harder!”. A bright future awaits the midfielder from Con Cuong (Nghe An) ahead./.
