22 years of working with flowers and plants

For Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son (36 years old, Long Bien - Hanoi), growing and playing with flowers has been a passion since childhood. He said that since secondary school, he has grown simple flowers to celebrate Tet such as: violets, daisies, dahlias, etc. When he grew up, Mr. Son started growing flowers with a plan and on a large scale.

“At first, I sowed seeds of simple flowers such as daisies, sunflowers, horsetails, etc. Gradually, I grew other types such as lavender, wisteria, blood vine, etc. Especially, since joining the flower growing group on social networks, I have been given more strength for my love of plants and flowers. Therefore, I researched and grew many different types of flowers,” said Mr. Son.

Taking that opportunity, I decided to go to the city suburbs to build a garden to fulfill my dream,” Son shared.

Mr. Son added that the suburban garden has an area of ​​about 1,300 square meters and is mainly used to grow roses. Besides, he also grows his favorite flowers such as magnolia, wisteria, raspberry, purple phoenix, apricot, peach, orchid, carnation, lily, ... and some other plants.

Need to understand the characteristics of each flower species

At the beginning of growing flowers, Mr. Son encountered certain difficulties. He said that when moving from a small space to a large space, he felt a bit bewildered and exhausted. In particular, because he did not understand the characteristics of the soil of the Red River alluvial soil, the plants he planted could not grow. In addition, he encountered many difficulties in managing and caring for the plants.

“Many times, I was discouraged and wanted to give up, but my passion and belief in beautiful space gave me the strength to continue pursuing my dream. In the end, I overcame the difficulties and succeeded,” Son confided.

To grow flowers, Mr. Son needs to understand the characteristics of each type.

Sharing how to plant and care for plants and flowers, Mr. Son said: “To plant flowers, you need to understand the characteristics of each type. The soil must also be suitable for each type of plant. It must be loose, rich in nutrients and well-drained. In addition, the fertilizer regime for each type of plant also affects each stage of plant growth.

“Usually, I use organic fertilizers such as cow manure, chicken manure, and compost from waste. Because it does not affect the environment and protects the soil better. In addition, I minimize the use of pesticides. In my opinion, plants have an adaptive mechanism to survive. Therefore, I let the plants activate their own functions before considering the decision to use pesticides. I only use pesticides in case of emergency when there is no other option,” Son shared how to take care of flowers.
