Hanoi boy donates heart transplant to end-stage heart failure patient in Hue
The young man was brain dead after a traffic accident, his family donated all his organs, but his heart was transported to Hue to transplant into a patient. This was the first successful heart transplant when the heart was moved from the donor to the recipient nearly 700 km away.
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Phuc - Deputy Director of the National Organ Transplant Coordination Center, said this is the first time donated organs have been coordinated from Viet Duc Friendship Hospital (Hanoi) to Hue for transplant to patients.

The donor was a healthy young man who was declared brain dead after a traffic accident. His family decided to donate all his organs and tissues so that he could live once more in another person's body and also to save the lives of other patients.
This donated heart has indicators that match a 52-year-old patient with end-stage heart failure being treated at Hue Central Hospital.The National Organ Transplant Coordination Center coordinated with Viet Duc Hospital, Hue Central Hospital... to transport the heart to Hue.

The heart transplant took place on May 16. About 18 hours after surgery, the patient was awake and able to communicate with medical staff.
This is the third time Hue Central Hospital has successfully transplanted a heart.and for the first time, organs were taken from a hospital in the North of Vietnam.Hue is nearly 700 km away.
