Cutting off a major drug ring from Nghe An to Thai Nguyen

Tuong Duong district has long been considered a hot spot for illegal drug trafficking and transportation. However, since drug retail boss Luong Ba Duy (born in 1986, residing in Yen Na commune, Tuong Duong, Nghe An) was arrested by Tuong Duong district police on June 21, 2016, the drug crime situation in the area seems to have calmed down.

However, after a short time, drug trafficking in the Doc Moi hill area bordering 3 communes: Xa Luong, Thach Giam, Yen Na and in the Doc Kem hill area of ​​Xop Pu village, Yen Na commune showed signs of becoming complicated again. In particular, there were some strange people who were not local people appearing for a short time and then disappearing.

According to police intelligence sources, there are a number of other local people who contacted and connected with Mong people and local people to organize drug sales at the above two locations to transport to Thai Nguyen city, Thai Nguyen province for a number of major drug dealers.

During the verification process, a number of subjects emerged, including two notable names: Le Van An (born in 1974, residing in Son Hai commune, Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province) and Ha Thi Hien (born in 1980, residing in Tuc Duyen ward, Thai Nguyen city, Thai Nguyen province). Both subjects were heavy drug addicts, living together as husband and wife.

Recently, the two subjects frequently traveled from Nghe An to Thai Nguyen and vice versa, most likely transporting drugs from Tuong Duong to Thai Nguyen for consumption. Intelligence information showed that An and Hien had just received a new order and would go to Tuong Duong to collect goods for Thai Nguyen.

Faced with the above situation, the District Police established a special project codenamed "217M" to fight and destroy the two suspects. A plan to intercept the two suspects was drawn up. On the evening of November 24, 2016, Hien and An arrived in Tuong Duong and rented a motel to prepare for action.

Having received the information that night, the detectives immediately arrived at the motel to monitor the movements of the suspects. At the same time, the police arranged 3 working groups to be ready to carry out the task.

On the evening of November 25, in the thick darkness and foggy rain, two dark figures quietly left the motel gate and took a motorbike taxi towards Doc Kem area. The Tuong Duong District Police detectives quietly followed.

In order to avoid being tracked and prevent the subjects from escaping after receiving the goods, Tuong Duong district police divided into many groups to set up checkpoints at intersections in different directions.

At 2am on November 26, 2016, two subjects traveled by motorbike taxi towards Cua Rao, Xa Luong commune to Hoa Binh town. Arriving at the foot of Doc Kem, two dark figures quietly went straight into the deep forest to go up the mountain to buy goods.

To avoid being passive, the detectives waited patiently. Not long after, the two subjects quickly walked down the mountain, carrying a bag in their hands. When they were about to reach the Cua Rao area (Xa Luong commune), Hien got out of the car and hid in the bushes by the roadside. An asked the motorbike taxi to take him ahead. Not detecting any signs of danger, the subject returned to pick up his wife.

At around 2:30 a.m., near Cua Rao Bridge, the two suspects fell into the ambush of the Task Force. Immediately, three working groups simultaneously left their positions to organize the siege. Knowing they were being surrounded and captured, Hien and An jumped out of the car. Hien quickly snatched the bag from her husband's hand in an attempt to jump into the abyss to escape. However, with sharp professional measures, the detectives neutralized the attack, forcing both of them to accept being handcuffed.

During the on-site inspection, the Task Force seized 2 heroin cakes (weighing 734g) and 6,000 synthetic drug pills along with 5 million VND in cash from the two subjects. Initially, Hien and An confessed that the above "goods" were purchased to transport to Thai Nguyen for consumption.

The case is being further investigated by Tuong Duong District Police.
