Breaking up a drug trafficking ring that was buying large quantities of crystal meth from Laos to Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 28, 2021, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department said: last night the unit successfully broke up a drug case, arresting 1 subject with 5 kg of crystal meth and 3 cell phones.
The Criminal Police Department has discovered a drug trafficking ring from Laos to Ky Son district, then transported to the southern provinces for consumption. Faced with this situation, the Unit reported to the Nghe An Provincial Police Department to establish Project 777C to fight and eradicate the drug.
After more than a month of monitoring the subject's movements, the Task Force received information that they were preparing to conduct a new transaction after a period of silence. The Task Force immediately held a quick meeting to outline a plan to crack the case. Accordingly, 4 working groups received orders as planned to set out to coordinate with the Tuong Duong District Police, Nam Can International Border Gate Customs Branch, and Na Ngoi Border Guard Station to close the siege and wait for the opportunity to cast their nets.

As predicted, at about 9:15 p.m. on April 27, 2021, at Khe Tang village, Chieu Luu commune, Ky Son district, the suspect appeared. Immediately, in the dark, the task force suddenly rushed in, closed the siege, and successfully broke up the case. On the spot, the forces caught the suspect red-handed:Ha Ba Chu (born in 1987), residing in Pu Quac 2 village, Na Ngoi commune, Ky Son district, Nghe An province, for the act of“Illegal drug trafficking”.

The investigation team searched the subject and seized5 kg of crystal meth, 3 cell phones. It is known that during the arrest, the subject fiercely resisted, however, with intelligence and courage, the members of the task force completely controlled the subject, seized all the evidence and ensured the safety of the investigation force as well as traffic participants.
That same night, the subject and the evidence were brought to the Provincial Police Department's Investigation Police Department for investigation and clarification. Initial investigation results showed that the subject admitted to his crime. Currently, the Drug Crime Investigation Department is continuing to consolidate files and documents to expand the investigation.
