According to the indictment, around September 2014, while doing business in China, Vy Thi Nga called her aunt Ha to ask her to find women to sell in China. Nga agreed that for every woman she brought, she would receive 20 million VND in commission. Hearing her niece say that, Ha agreed.

A month later, when meeting Ms. Lo Thi Ng. (born in 1982), residing in Yen Tinh commune, Tuong Duong district, Ha immediately asked "Do you want to go to China to get married?" Ms. Ng. agreed. Ha informed Nga about finding her "prey".

On October 19, 2014, Ha gave Ms. Ng 2 million VND for travel expenses to catch a bus to Mong Cai (Quang Ninh), and also gave Nga's phone number. When arriving at the border gate, Ms. Ng was hired by someone from Nga to take her to China through a small border crossing. Afterwards, Nga asked her father-in-law to sell Ms. Ng to a Chinese man to marry for about 120 million VND.

After receiving 90 million VND from her father-in-law, Nga sent 80 million VND to Ha. Of that, 20 million was Ha's salary, 60 million was Ng's money. Nga sent the remaining 10 million VND to her mother to raise her child.

Ms. Ng. was a wife in a foreign country for 6 months and then fled back to Vietnam. On July 9, 2021, the victim filed a complaint with the police. Nga and Ha were arrested later.

Regarding Nga’s drug trafficking behavior, according to the case file, around the afternoon of July 5, 2021, two men came to Nga’s house to buy “2 ducks, 1 chicken” referring to heroin and opium. Nga sold 300,000 VND worth of drugs to the two subjects. On the same day, while the two subjects were using drugs, they were arrested by the police. Vy Thi Nga was later arrested by the police.

At the trial, the two defendants admitted to the crimes as charged in the indictment. Both stated that their circumstances were difficult, so they found someone to take them to China to sell. The two defendants presented their difficult circumstances to ask for a lighter sentence.

After considering the aggravating and mitigating circumstances, the panel sentenced the defendant Vy Thi Nga to 4 years in prison for Human Trafficking and 4 years for Illegal Drug Trafficking. The total sentence Nga must serve is 8 years in prison. The defendant Lo Thi Xu Ha was sentenced to 3 years in prison for Human Trafficking.
