Fire in induction cooker shop, 4 people died

At around 4am on June 10, a fire broke out at an induction cooker store, killing 4 people, including 3 male victims and 1 female victim.

Colonel Le Tan Buu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Fire Police Department, confirmed that the fire at Phu Gia induction cooker store, No. 423, Luy Ban Bich, Hiep Tan Ward, Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City, killed 4 people.

According to some people living near the scene, at around 4am, the fire broke out behind the induction cooker shop, with black smoke billowing. The shop was a tube-shaped house with only one sliding door in the front, so the people inside had no way to escape.

People broke the iron door to get in to put out the fire but were unsuccessful. The Tan Phu District Fire Police Department dispatched specialized fire trucks, including ladder trucks, along with dozens of officers and soldiers to the scene to put out the fire.

According to initial information, the deaths were due to suffocation, of the 4 victims, 3 were male and 1 was female.

At 8:40 am, the scene of the fire was sealed off. Authorities entered the scene to investigate the cause.

Mr. Le Van Tam (37 years old, living across the street from the fire) said that while he was sleeping, he was startled awake when he heard a cry for help from the Phu Gia induction cooker store. Mr. Tam ran out and saw smoke billowing. The owner of the induction cooker store ran outside to call for help but the iron door was locked and she could not get out. At this time, a crane happened to pass by the scene and discovered that the fire had stopped. The crane driver used the crane to break open the iron door to let the smoke out. Inside the iron door was a thick glass door, so the crane driver continued to break this glass door. At the same time, the crane driver broke the advertising board on the first floor of the induction cooker store.

The owner of the induction cooker shop jumped from the first floor to the ground and was seriously injured. She was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment.

The victims who died in the fire include: Nguyen Ngoc Hoang (23 years old), Bui The Thao (22 years old), Phung Nam Anh (23 years old), all 3 are from Thai Binh; Dinh Thi Bich Chi (24 years old, from Soc Trang). One injured person was transferred to Tan Phu District Hospital for treatment, Nguyen Thi Nam Ly (51 years old, from Phu Tho).
