Fire at the Pharmacy Department - Nghe An Traditional Medicine Hospital
(Baonghean.vn) -At 1:30 PM on May 21st, the Pharmacy Department of Nghe An Traditional Medicine Hospital suddenly caught fire and burned fiercely. Two fire trucks and dozens of police officers were mobilized to extinguish the blaze.
According to some staff members of the Nghe An Traditional Medicine Hospital, while everyone was taking a lunch break, they suddenly heard alarms from patients' families about a fire. Rushing to the Pharmacy Department, they discovered flames rising from the drug storage area on the second floor. They immediately called the police and mobilized staff to extinguish the fire.
More than 10 minutes later, the fire department arrived with two fire trucks and used water hoses to extinguish the fire. The fire occurred on the second floor of the building, which contained flammable materials such as traditional Vietnamese medicine, wooden shelves, plastic boxes, and metal containers for medicine. The roof of the building was tiled, with a wooden frame and plastic ceiling, so the fire spread very quickly, making firefighting difficult.
Police used water cannons to extinguish the fire.
Nearly 30 minutes later, the fire was brought under control, but the entire auxiliary medicine storage area on the second floor was completely destroyed. Some machinery, equipment, tools, and documents in the meeting room and the Head of Department's office were also burned to ashes.
According to Dr. Le Dinh Quy, Deputy Director of the hospital, all hospital staff and employees were present to help extinguish the fire as soon as it broke out. There were no casualties. The extent of the damage and the cause of the fire have not yet been determined.
The fire occurred in a two-story building separate from other departments of the hospital; there were no casualties.
The entire drug storage area on the second floor of the Pharmacy Department was burned down.
The medicines and medicinal herbs were partially burned or damaged.
The tables, chairs, and computers were burned.
