Russia's Federal News Agency (FAN) on May 5 published a list of 73 passengers on board the Aeroflot Superjet 100 that had to make an emergency landing at Sheremetyevo International Airport while en route from Moscow to Murmansk due to a fire on board.
According to this list, there are 72 people with Russian names and only one person with a foreign name, Brooks Jeremy Hinton.
There is currently no official information about the nationalities of the 73 passengers and 5 crew members on the crashed plane.
However, according to the announcement of the Russian Investigative Committee, so far 41 people have died, including 2 children, in this incident. The cause of the accident is currently unknown.
The Russian Investigative Committee has decided to initiate criminal proceedings to determine whether the pilot violated aviation safety regulations.
Some lucky passengers who escaped death believe that bad weather and lightning may have caused the accident.
The Komsomolskaya Pravda daily quoted a passenger named Pyotr Egorov as saying that "the plane was hit by lightning during take-off" and was forced to turn back and "made a hard landing" before catching fire.
Flight tracking service Flightradar24 said the plane circled twice in the air over Moscow before making an emergency landing just 30 minutes after takeoff.
The fire has now been completely extinguished, but half of the plane has been burned.
President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev sent their condolences and asked investigators to find out the cause of the incident.
