(Baonghean.vn) - After lighting incense at the altar, Mr. Thanh went to his brother's house and was unaware that the fire had started from the altar and destroyed many of his family's belongings.

At 12 PM on November 28th (the first day of the Lunar New Year, Year of the Rooster 2017), a fire broke out at the home of Mr. Uong Dinh Thanh, born in 1949, residing in Hamlet 3, Xuan Tuong Commune (Thanh Chuong District).

Accordingly, at that time, after lighting incense at the altar, Mr. Thanh and his wife went to his siblings' house in the same village to light incense. The fire broke out from the altar and then spread throughout the house.

At that time, only Le Hong Anh (Mr. Thanh's niece) was home, but because Anh suffers from intellectual disability, she didn't know how to call for help.

After a while, the flames rose high, burning almost the entire middle section, before the surrounding residents noticed and mobilized to put out the fire.

Reportedly, Mr. Uong Dinh Thanh is a disabled veteran from the war against the Americans, classified as 2/4, with one eye missing, and is in difficult circumstances.

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated. Initial estimates put the damage at over 100 million VND.
