Article 12 of the Road Traffic Law stipulates vehicle speed and distance between vehicles as follows:

Drivers and operators of specialized motorbikes must comply with regulations on vehicle speed on the road and must keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of them; in places where there is a sign "Minimum distance between two vehicles", the distance must be no less than the number indicated on the sign.

On the other hand, Clause 11, Article 8 of the 2008 Road Traffic Law also stipulates the following prohibited acts: Driving a motor vehicle at a speed exceeding the prescribed speed, competing for the road, and recklessly overtaking.

Thus, vehicle drivers must comply with the regulations on permitted speeds when participating in traffic for all types of vehicles. In cases of non-compliance with the regulations on permitted speeds when participating in traffic, they will be punished according to the provisions of Article 5 and Article 6 of Decree 171/2013/ND-CP on administrative sanctions for violations in the field of road and rail traffic. Fine from 600,000 to 800,000 VND if driving at a speed exceeding the prescribed speed from 5 km/h to under 10 km/h.

Fine from 2 million to 3 million VND if driving over the speed limit from 10 km/h to 20 km/h.
