Pine forest fires in Nam Dan and Hung Nguyen districts.

(Baonghean.vn) - This afternoon (June 9), a fire broke out in a pine forest in the border area between Nam Dan and Hung Nguyen districts.

Accordingly, at around 12 noon on June 9th, two pine forest fires broke out simultaneously in Nam Xuan and Nam Giang communes of Nam Dan district. About an hour later, the flames quickly spread to Hung Yen Bac and Hung Tay communes of Hung Nguyen district.

Many local residents participated in fighting the forest fires.

Upon receiving the report, the authorities of the two districts mobilized approximately 700 people, including militia, forest rangers, police, and local residents, to the scene to extinguish the fire.

However, due to the hot weather and strong southwest winds, controlling the fire proved difficult. Furthermore, the steep mountainous terrain and the distance of the forest fire from water sources made extinguishing the fire even more challenging, forcing rescue forces to split into multiple teams working together to fight the blaze.

The fire spread rapidly.

After more than four hours, the fires in both locations were basically brought under control. However, many hectares of pine forest, aged 10-15 years, were destroyed.

According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Tam, Head of the Forest Protection Department of Hung Nguyen district, both fires originated in Nam Dan district and spread to the forests of Hung Nguyen district.

The cause of the forest fire is currently being investigated by the authorities.
