(Baonghean.vn) - At 11:30 AM on June 12th, a large fire broke out in Hamlet 8B, Thanh Chi Commune (Thanh Chuong District), completely destroying an area of ​​pine forest over 30 years old in the locality.

This is a large pine forest with many dry trees, so the fire spread rapidly over a wide area in a short time. Fearing the fire could easily spread to nearby houses, residents cleared firebreaks and coordinated with the local militia to extinguish the flames.

The fire has been brought under control, but not completely, and there is still a potential for it to reignite due to smoldering embers. In response, the District Fire Prevention and Control Steering Committee has mobilized the District Military Command, local militia, and local residents to widen the firebreak and transport water for firefighting.

* On the afternoon of June 12th, a fire broke out in the pine forest of Tay Son hamlet, Nghi Yen commune, Nghi Loc district.

According to some locals who helped put out the fire, it broke out at around 3 PM on June 12th. The burned area covered approximately 1 hectare of pine forest aged 5-6 years.

The fire is visible from a distance.

Immediately after the fire was discovered, local authorities mobilized all available forces, totaling nearly 200 people including forest rangers, forestry officials, district military personnel, commune police, militia, and local residents, to urgently extinguish the fire.

However, due to the fire breaking out during a hot, dry season, combined with strong winds from Laos and dense vegetation, extinguishing the fire proved extremely difficult. In addition to using rudimentary tools like branches and other objects to put out the fire, authorities also deployed personnel to create firebreaks to control the blaze.

By 5 PM the same day, the fire was brought under control. Currently, authorities are investigating the cause of the forest fire and assessing the damage caused.
