Trial run of the first river bus route

All river bus stations have motorbike parking for passengers, some stations are connected to the road by bus such as Bach Dang and Linh Dong stations.

According to information from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, the first bus of river bus route No. 1 (Bach Dang - Linh Dong route) has been installed, is being completed and will be launched on the morning of August 21 for a test run before the official opening (expected in October).

For stations that do not have direct bus connections, the investor (Thuong Nhat Company Limited) proposes connecting by electric bus or contacting a road transport unit to arrange for road buses to enter.

It is expected that Ho Chi Minh City will put into operation a river bus route next October.

The entire route consists of 5 ships (80 seats each), of which 4 are daily ships and 1 is on standby. The route has 12 berths (9 official berths and 3 additional berths).

Travel time from starting point to end point is about 30 minutes; time for the train to arrive at each station to pick up and drop off passengers is 3 minutes; ticket price is 15,000 VND.

In order to solve the pressure on road traffic, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has approved Thuong Nhat Company Limited to invest in building river bus routes (expected to be put into operation in June 2017) and at the same time research reasonable ticket prices to encourage people to use the service./.
