Processing feed for raising spotted eels.
(Baonghean.vn) - Marble eel (Anguilla marmorata) is a high-value aquaculture product. Currently, it is mainly raised using trash fish as feed, which is not a reliable source and poses a high risk of environmental pollution and disease outbreaks. Therefore, processed mixed feed is the best way to improve the efficiency of raising this species.
Ingredients:
Mixed feed for spotted eels is made from the following ingredients: fish meal 47%, soybean meal 22%, wheat flour 14%, rice bran flour 8%, fish oil 5%, and other components such as mineral premix 2%, vitamin premix 2%, etc.
Processing method:
The mixed feed is processed following these steps: Ingredients used to process fish feed must be of good quality, not spoiled, and especially free from mold. A weighing scale is used to weigh the ingredients accurately to ensure the correct protein content in the processed feed.
Mix the ingredients: fish meal, soybean meal, wheat flour, and rice bran powder are thoroughly mixed. After cooking and cooling, add fish oil, mineral premix, and vitamin premix, mix well, and feed into a feed extruder to form pellets.
Finally, refrigeration: the mixed moist feed, once processed, can be stored in a freezer or refrigerator for about 5-7 days for the fish to eat gradually.
Feeding and food management:
Feed the fish daily with an amount equal to 5-10% of their total weight in the pond. Feed the fish according to four principles: consistent quality, consistent quantity, consistent location, and consistent time.
Feed the fish twice a day, in the morning (7-8 am) and in the afternoon (4-7 pm).
The feed is placed in sieves made of square iron frames, fixed at the four corners of the pond, 1 meter from the bank.
Note: When the temperature is below 25°C or above 34°C, the amount of food must be reduced. Adjust the amount of food so that the fish consume it all within 1 hour. Spotted eels feed at night, so their evening ration should be 70% of their total daily food intake.
Raising spotted eels commercially using mixed feed combined with trash fish helps improve the survival rate (96%) and lower the feed conversion ratio (3.05).
