The Telegraph quoted information from Zimbabwean media saying that Mr. Mugabe will receive a villa. Specifically, Mr. Mugabe will be given a private villa or built a villa on his land but with the condition that it will not exceed 5 bedrooms.

In addition, according to the Harare Herald, Mr. Mugabe is allowed to maintain at least 20 personal staff, including bodyguards, personal secretaries, and drivers.

Mr. Mugabe will also receive three private cars, including a Mercedes Benz S500, a pickup truck and another car. He will be entitled to first-class air travel with four international trips per year.

All these benefits will be paid for by the Zimbabwe government pension fund.

The Harare Herald did not mention the pension Mugabe will receive. However, independent media outlets said last month that Mugabe will receive a pension of up to $10 million as part of his resignation deal. According to the source, the retiring president will receive the same pension as he did when he was in office.

Mugabe, 93, resigned on November 21 after a week of military house arrest and pressure. He only resigned when he realized it was the only way he could avoid impeachment and leave with dignity. The decision marked the end of his 37-year rule in Zimbabwe.

Mr. Mugabe's agreement with the military and the ruling party helped Zimbabwe complete a coup and transfer power without bloodshed. Former Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa was officially sworn in on November 24 as the head of Zimbabwe's interim government until the general election scheduled for September next year./.
