Facing a PSG team that played extremely scientifically and tightly, Chelsea's resilience, coupled with a bit of luck, propelled them into the semi-finals in the most dramatic way possible.

Chelsea's hopes of a comeback were dashed by two setbacks: PSG failed to attack as promised, and Eden Hazard suffered a sudden injury in the 18th minute. Without Hazard's inspiration, and facing a PSG side that played incredibly disciplined and tight, Chelsea were unable to play the way they wanted for the first 30 minutes of the match.

Chelsea's deadlock unfolded exactly as PSG had planned. However, as the saying goes, man proposes, God disposes. Just when it seemed The Blues had no chance of scoring, the goal arrived. From a throw-in, the ball deflected off David Luiz's back into open space, and Andre Schuerrle, Hazard's substitute, reacted quickly to seal the victory.

The situation reversed. The first-half goal allowed Chelsea to be more proactive and calculated. They didn't rush forward immediately, but maintained control of the game to deliver the final blow in the second half. However, while luck favored Chelsea in the first half, it turned its back on them in the second.

In the 52nd minute, Schuerrle's shot hit the crossbar, and just two minutes later, the PSG goalpost rattled again after Oscar's free-kick.

However, Chelsea's two shots hitting the crossbar inadvertently reminded PSG that they needed to play more defensively, as they had shown in the first half. And when the visitors had time to calm down, The Blues continued to struggle.

With all or nothing at stake, Mourinho decided to use all three forwards, Demba Ba, Eto'o, and Torres, in the final 10 minutes. Chelsea pressed their opponents relentlessly, and then the golden goal arrived at the perfect moment.

In the 87th minute, a Chelsea player's shot deflected off a PSG defender's leg, inadvertently turning into a pass for Demba Ba to score the winning goal from close range. Despite not playing better than PSG, Chelsea's resilience as a big team propelled them through (the aggregate score was 3-3, with The Blues securing qualification thanks to the away goals rule).
