Chelsea have one foot in the quarter-finals after a comfortable win at Stamford Bridge. The London club appeared to be back in form with a third straight win, having beaten fellow Premier League sides Fulham and Tottenham.

Pedro opened the scoring after a lovely move. The Spanish striker received a clever backheel from Giroud and raced to finish past goalkeeper Denys Boyko. Chelsea's second goal was another fine one. Willian scored his 11th free-kick since joining Chelsea with a 25-yard strike.

The score of the match was decided in the 90th minute thanks to young talent Callum Hudson-Odoi. Ruben Loftus-Cheek passed the ball just in time for Hudson-Odoi to finish close to the goal, giving Chelsea a huge advantage before the away match to Ukraine on March 14.

Chelsea's home ground has become a fulcrum for them in European competition. They have scored in 36 consecutive games at Stamford Bridge since their 0-1 defeat in the 2010-2011 Champions League quarter-finals at the hands of Man Utd.

Chelsea will need performances like the one against Kiev if they are to repeat their Europa League triumph in 2013. Sarri's side are in danger of having to compete for Champions League qualification via Europe as they are sixth in the Premier League.

Coach Sarri made six changes from the last match, leaving key players such as Eden Hazard, N'Golo Kante and Gonzalo Higuain on the bench. However, the remaining players were still able to win easily against the Ukrainian team. Striker Giroud continued to prove his talent in the Europa League, having contributed to goals in six consecutive matches. In the previous five matches, the French striker scored six times.

Not only Giroud, youngster Hudson-Odoi also scored in his third consecutive Europa League game at home. In all competitions, Hudson-Odoi has had a hand in seven goals in seven consecutive games, including four goals and three assists.

Defeat to Chelsea means Dynamo Kiev have continued their winless run in their last 10 European knockout matches, drawing six and losing four.
