At nearly 11pm that same night, while he was butchering a chicken, Mr. Luong Van Tuat picked up a plucked chicken and put it on Luong Van Van's neck to tease him.
Being teased, Van replied "I don't care". As soon as he finished speaking, Van was pushed down by Tuat and wanted to hit him but was stopped by everyone.
After that, Van went out to the yard to drink water and then continued to go back to the chicken butchering area when Tuat rushed in with a knife and threatened to beat him. Tuat and Van continued to fight and challenge each other several times at the wedding, but were stopped by everyone.
Feeling resentful because he thought Tuat had "bullied" him many times at the wedding, Van went home, got a 48cm long slash-and-burn knife, and went to Tuat's house.
When he got there, Van jumped over the fence and hid in the wall of the house. Through the gap, he saw Tuat inside the house saying to his brother, “I’m going to find Van to beat him up…”. Even though his brother advised him to let it go, Tuat refused.
At 1:30 a.m. on April 26, Tuat opened the door and walked out onto the porch for more than 1 meter when Luong Van Van, who was hiding next to him, slashed him in the chest. Tuat screamed and ran for a few meters before collapsing and dying from shock, blood loss, and respiratory failure.
