Restaurant owner sentenced to 12 years in prison for murdering a man.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of October 23, the Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial to hear the murder case against Nguyen Van Tuyen (born in 1968, residing in Nghi Lam commune, Nghi Loc district).

According to the indictment of the Provincial People's Procuracy, Nguyen Van Tuyen was the owner of the Giot Dang Karaoke bar in Hamlet 15, Nghi Lam Commune, Nghi Loc District. Around 8:45 PM on March 18, 2014, due to a conflict during a karaoke session, Nguyen Ngoc Phong (born in 1985, residing in Hamlet 2, Nghi My, Nghi Loc) punched Tuyen in the forehead and head. Tuyen then grabbed a knife from the gas stove in the sales counter and slashed Phong.

After being slashed, Phong turned and ran. Tuyen chased after him and repeatedly stabbed him in the back. When Tuyen chased Phong to karaoke room number 4, someone ran in to intervene and wrestled the knife from Tuyen's hand. Phong ran out of the karaoke bar and to a nearby coffee shop, where he collapsed and died on the way to the hospital.

At the trial, Nguyen Van Tuyen sincerely confessed to all his crimes. After Tuyen was arrested and detained for investigation, his family compensated the victim's family with 190 million VND to mitigate the consequences.

Considering that the victim was partly at fault in this case, the defendant confessed honestly, his family has contributed to the revolution, his mother was awarded the title of Heroic Vietnamese Mother, and the defendant has a good character and actively compensated for the damages, the court sentenced Nguyen Van Tuyen to 12 years in prison.
