(Baonghean.vn) - Pieng Pen village (My Ly commune - Ky Son district) has 73 households with 343 inhabitants belonging to the Thai ethnic minority. Located more than 2 hours by motorbike or boat from the commune center, Pieng Pen village is perched precariously on the majestic Truong Son mountain range. From here to the other side of the border is only a 30-minute walk.
The lives of the people in Pieng Pen village have changed significantly; 100% of families now have solid houses, and the number of poor households in the village accounts for only about 50%. Notably, the people here still preserve very distinctive traditional cultural features.

| Although it is a village inhabited by the Thai ethnic group, many houses are roofed with cypress wood, a feature usually only seen in villages of the Hmong people. |

The chicken coops were also roofed with cypress wood.

| In the village, they also have the hobby of "keeping" ornamental chickens, just like the Hmong people. |
| Because there is no electricity, the villagers have to use generators to mill their rice. |
| This indicates that the family is in mourning or has recently performed a ritual to ward off bad luck; guests should not enter the house during this time. |
| The women of Piêng Pèn village still maintain the traditional crafts of silkworm farming, silk reeling, and weaving. |
