In 2013, the population sector successfully organized many events. Thanks to the promotion of communication and mobilization, it contributed to raising awareness and changing the behavior of cadres, party members and people in implementing population/family planning policies. The implementation of projects and models on improving population quality such as: Project on population control in coastal areas; Project on prenatal and newborn screening; Project on pre-marital reproductive health examination and counseling; Project on intervention to reduce gender imbalance at birth... continued to achieve many important results.
In particular, during the year, many indicators had positive changes such as the crude birth rate in 2013 decreased by 0.77% compared to 2012; the birth rate of the third child or more decreased by 0.36% compared to 2012; the natural population growth rate was 11.5%; the sex ratio at birth was 115 boys/100 girls, reaching 104% of the planned target. This is also the premise and motivation for the provincial Department of Population and Family Planning to continue to resolutely direct, manage and organize the implementation in 2014 to reduce the birth rate of the third child or more, curb the increase in the sex ratio at birth and improve the quality of the population.
With the above achievements in 2013, the Provincial Department of Population and Family Planning was awarded the excellent emulation flag by the Ministry of Health, the Provincial People's Committee awarded the title of excellent labor collective; 10 collectives and 16 individuals were awarded certificates of merit by the General Department of Population and 75 collectives and 50 individuals were awarded certificates of merit by the Department of Health.
