Consumer price index (CPI) in February in Nghe An increased by 2.24%

According to the Nghe An Statistics Office, in February, prices of food, foodstuffs, eating out, beverages and transportation services increased. These were the main reasons for the consumer price index (CPI) in February 2024 to increase by 2.24% compared to the previous month.

Of the 11 main groups of goods and services, 10/11 groups had price indexes increasing compared to the previous month, including: Transportation increased by 8.69%; Food and catering services increased by 2.85%; Beverages and tobacco increased by 1.98%; Clothing, hats, footwear increased by 0.95%; Culture, entertainment and tourism increased by 0.75%; Household equipment and appliances increased by 0.48%; Housing, electricity, water and construction materials increased by 0.27%; Other goods and services increased by 0.21%; Post and telecommunications increased by 0.03%; Medicines and medical services increased by 0.02%.

There is one group of goods that increased, not decreased compared to last month, which is education.

On average, in the first two months of 2024, the consumer price index increased by 5.26% over the same period last year. 11/11 groups of goods increased, including: Housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials increased by 20.24%; Medicines and medical services increased by 5.53%; Other goods and services increased by 5.37%; Food and catering services increased by 3.52%; Beverages and tobacco increased by 3.1%; Culture, entertainment and tourism increased by 2.15%; Transportation increased by 1.77%; Education increased by 1.32%; Household equipment and utensils increased by 0.81%; Clothing, hats and footwear increased by 0.54% and Post and telecommunications increased by 0.38%.

Trade and service activities in the province are bustling, many stimulus, connection and trade promotion programs have been implemented to boost production, help manufacturers connect with distribution systems and consumers, to serve the needs, shopping and consumption of people, especially during the Lunar New Year 2024. Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in February 2024 is estimated at 11,931.6 billion VND, down 3.49% compared to the previous month, up 42.77% over the same period last year. Accumulated in the first 2 months of 2024, total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue is estimated at 24,294.2 billion VND, up 26.6% over the same period last year.

The gold price index in February 2024 increased by 1.25% compared to the previous month and by 10.01% compared to the same period last year. The average for the two months increased by 10.33% compared to the same period last year. Domestic gold prices fluctuated in the same direction as world gold prices. The US dollar index in February 2024 increased by 0.92% compared to the previous month and by 0.14% compared to the same period last year. The average for the two months decreased by 1.06% compared to the same period last year.
