Nghe An PCI index increased 4 places, ranked 21st in the country

(Baonghean.vn) - The above information was announced by comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee on the morning of March 22 at the online conference of the first quarter of 2018.

Accordingly, this morning in Hanoi, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) announced the 2017 Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) Annual Report.

Nghe An province ranked 21st, up 4 places compared to 2016, leading the 6 provinces in the North Central region. The 2 neighboring provinces are Thanh Hoa ranked 28th, Ha Tinh ranked 33rd. This is the highest position ever of Nghe An province. The PCI ranking results have demonstrated the efforts of all levels of government and people in administrative reform, investment attraction...

Before the leaders of departments, branches and localities, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Duong emphasized that the above results demonstrate the province's efforts in the past year, and at the same time requested that departments, branches and localities continue to promote to continue improving the province's competitiveness.

According to VCCI, with more than 10,000 domestic private enterprises and nearly 1,800 foreign-invested enterprises participating in the survey, the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) 2017 Report is a "collection of voices" of the business community on the quality of governance and business environment in 63 provinces and cities of Vietnam in the past year.

Along with the announcement of the PCI Index Ranking 2017, the PCI Report 2017 devotes an important part to reflecting the business community's perception of the efforts of provinces and cities in implementing the Government's Resolution 19/NQ-CP on improving the business environment, enhancing national competitiveness and Resolution 35/NQ-CP on supporting and developing enterprises until 2020.

The PCI 2017 report has a separate chapter analyzing the current situation and management and operational capacity of Vietnamese private enterprises, in addition to a chapter updating foreign-invested enterprises' assessments of Vietnam's investment and business environment.

It is known that this is the 13th consecutive time that VCCI has announced a set of indexes to evaluate and rank the quality of economic management of provinces and cities in Vietnam. The set of indexes has helped localities to promote the exploitation of the business environment, actively work with the business community and partners, thereby making improvements and creative ways to improve their rankings.

In the 2017 PCI rankings, Quang Ninh rose to the top position for the first time with a score of 70.7 on a 100-point scale. Other localities in the group of 10 provinces and cities with the best governance quality in 2017 include: Da Nang (70.1 points), Dong Thap (68.8 points), Long An (66.7 points), Ben Tre (66.7 points), Vinh Long (66.1 points), Quang Nam (65.4 points), Ho Chi Minh City (65.2 points), Hai Phong (65.2 points) and Can Tho (65.1 points). Localities in the high-ranking group also include Lao Cai, Vinh Phuc, Hanoi, Binh Duong, Thai Nguyen, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Bac Ninh... Dak Nong province with 55.12 points ranked last in the 2017 PCI rankings.

PCI is an index to evaluate and rank the governments of provinces and cities of Vietnam in building a favorable business environment for the development of private enterprises.
