(Baonghean.vn) - While fleeing from Mrs. Th.'s house, Q. accidentally met Mrs. Thuy (who spoke with a Nghe An accent), the owner of a roadside eatery. Q. asked for shelter and worked washing dishes for two days at the restaurant, after which Mrs. Thuy helped her return to Vietnam.

Not far from Con Cuong town, in a Thai ethnic village, is the home of Lo Thi Q. (21 years old), one of the people who recently escaped from a human trafficking ring in a foreign land. Looking at her dilapidated house, we couldn't help but feel sorry for her.

Driven by the desire to earn money to support her sick mother, Q nearly fell into the hands of human traffickers. After escaping, she recounted her heartbreaking story from the "den of evil."

Căn nhà của 2 mẹ con Q nghèo nàn, lụp xụp.
The house where Q and her mother lived was poor and dilapidated.

Previously, Q. and her mother lived with her maternal uncle, but when Q. grew up and was able to take care of her mother, her uncle built a house right next to theirs so he could easily look after them.

Every day, Q. washes dishes and serves food at a restaurant in Con Cuong town. She earns over two million dong a month to cover her daily expenses. However, when her mother falls ill, and the family is poor, life becomes even more difficult.

The story begins on the 28th day of the Lunar New Year, when Q. and her mother visited relatives in Tong Chai village, Chi Khe commune, Con Cuong district. There, Q. and her mother met Mrs. M. Seeing Q., a young woman with a pure, innocent beauty, fair skin, a healthy, tall figure, a gentle and pretty face, and long black hair—a quintessential Thai girl's beauty—Mrs. M. enticed Q. to work as a receptionist at a restaurant in Hai Phong with a high salary. Because it was just the two of them, Q. didn't want to be away from her mother and had never been away from home before, so she shook her head and remained silent.

After Tet (Lunar New Year), Mrs. M approached Q and her mother again, promising to cover travel expenses, food, accommodation, and a job with double the usual salary. Q agreed. On February 16, 2016, Mrs. M sent a car to pick up Q. Accompanying Mrs. M were Mr. C and Ms. V (Mrs. M's son and granddaughter, both from Dinh village, Chi Khe commune, who had been working in China for over three years), along with the driver.

Upon arriving in Quang Ninh, Mrs. M immediately got out of the car and disappeared to an unknown location. The car carrying Q. continued to a riverbank, where a ferry was waiting to take Q. and everyone else across the river. Afterwards, Q. was taken by a plump woman to the house of Mrs. Th. (Mrs. M.'s sister).

Q. and V. were led into a room with 30 other people, each with an anxious expression, awaiting what might happen to them. Looking out into the room, Q. overheard strangers discussing the price of a transaction in which she was mentioned. Q. felt unsafe and genuinely frightened.

Q. didn't know where she was, so she asked V. (Mrs. M.'s granddaughter who had been working in China for about three years). V. said she had arrived in China. At that moment, Q.'s face turned pale with fear, she trembled, and thought about being sold, being treated cruelly, and having no way to return to her mother. Q. begged V. to show her how to escape. V. opened the back door so Q. could run away.

While fleeing from Mrs. Th.'s house, Q accidentally met Mrs. Thuy (who spoke with a Nghe An accent), the owner of a roadside eatery. Q asked for shelter and worked washing dishes for two days at the restaurant, after which Mrs. Thuy helped her return to Vietnam.

Q. chua xót, buồn tủi kể về quá trình trốn chạy khỏi động buôn bán người.
Q. recounted with bitterness and sorrow the process of escaping from a human trafficking ring.

After a week of trying to get home amidst her family's worries, Q. was truly terrified. Meanwhile, Mrs. M and her son didn't seem to care how Q. escaped, whether she had made it home safely, or if the family could contact them, not knowing where they were or what they were doing.

Ms. M.'s behavior and attitude showed a disregard for human life and a complete lack of responsibility for her actions. Outraged by the incident, Q.'s family reported it to the Con Cuong District Police. Subsequently, Mr. X., Ms. M.'s husband, visited, offered condolences, and apologized to Q. and her family. Due to their close family ties, Q.'s family decided to drop the charges against Ms. M. and her son.

It happened four months ago. I met Q. while she was at work, and her face always showed a quiet sadness, a fear of life's temptations.

She said hesitantly, "I don't dare think about leaving home, my mother, my uncle again. What happened was like a nightmare. If it weren't for V.'s help, if it weren't for Mrs. Thuy helping me get home, I would have become a slave in a foreign land..."
