The PAL-V Liberty could become the world's first commercial flying car in 2018.

"This kind of dream has been around for a hundred years. When the first airplane was created, people thought about how to make it something that could be driven on the road," said PAL-V marketing director Markus Hess.

PAL-V says the kThe first customers to buy a flying car can take a short drive and flight as soon as they receive the keys, but theyBoth a driver's license and a pilot's license will be required to operate the vehicle.

The flying car uses two 100 horsepower engines, unleaded gasoline, can fly 400-500 km at an altitude of up to 3.5 km. The maximum speed on the ground of the car is about 170 km/h.

PAL-V expects to build 50-100 vehicles in 2019 before increasing the number to several hundred in 2020.The PAL-V Liberty starts at $599,000, with the Liberty Sport model coming in at around $360,000.
