The green gate is 5.5m high, looks like a box-shaped roof with a base length of 7m, a width of 2.5m, and a height of 3m. Photo: Huy Thu

Another equally beautiful elm tree is the elm tree in front of the house of Mr. Thai Khac Khoan in Thinh Son commune, Do Luong district. Photo: Huy Thu

This elm tree dates back to the 90s of the last century, it is a wild tree that grows naturally, then Mr. Khoan's family paid attention to pruning. The lower canopy of the tree was cut into a circle with a diameter of about 2m. Photo: Huy Thu

Standing on the road connecting the hamlets, the elm tree about 7m high has been trimmed and shaped (mushroom-shaped lower part, palanquin-shaped upper part) to look like a one-pillar pagoda from afar. Locals often call it "the boundary tree of the One-Pillar Pagoda". Photo: Huy Thu
At Duc Son Temple in Nam Dan Town, there are two unique elm trees, each with its own beauty. The elm tree is shaped like a mushroom, about 4m high, and is trimmed into a cylindrical "mushroom body" and a bowl-shaped "mushroom cap". The "mushroom body" has branches and leaves wrapped around it from bottom to top. Photo: Huy Thu
Every time he trims this "giant mushroom", Mr. Le Xuan Tam (86 years old) - the bonsai caretaker at Duc Son temple, has to stack tables and chairs together and move around the elm tree. Photo: Huy Thu
The palanquin-shaped elm tree, about 3m high, is meticulously trimmed, looking like a real palanquin of the temple with all the roofs and soft curved ends… Mr. Tam said that these elm trees have been trimmed continuously for decades. What is more special is that he has taken care of these 2 elm trees and the whole garden in the Duc Son temple grounds with a voluntary spirit. Photo: Huy Thu
The unique elm trees have been meticulously and permanently pruned by the people, not only beautifying the landscape of the family, relics, villages, and ecological environment, but also becoming living works of art, expressing the love of nature, loved by many people. Photo: Huy Thu
