Russian Su-27 fighter jets intercept US bombers over the Baltic Sea
Two Su-27s flew over the Baltic Sea to intercept a US Air Force B-52H strategic bomber, Russia's National Defense Control Center said.

"To identify air targets and prevent violations of the state border of the Russian Federation, two Su-27 fighters of the Air Defense Forces of the Baltic Fleet were scrambled," the Russian National Defense Control Center said.
The Russian fighter crew approached the airborne object at a safe distance and identified it as a US Air Force B-52H strategic bomber. After the US military aircraft turned away from the Russian border, the Su-27 squadrons returned to their base.
According to the records, the entire flight of the Su-27 fighter jet took place in accordance with international rules on the use of airspace. The US Air Force bomber did not violate the Russian border.
