Hillary Clinton's campaign will focus on the economy.

On April 12th, Hillary Clinton, the Democratic candidate and former US Secretary of State, officially announced her candidacy for president in 2016.

The campaign of the former First Lady of the United States emphasized ensuring economic security for the middle class and creating opportunities for working-class families.

According to Clinton, rising economic inequality and slow wage growth are key issues. These will also be prominent themes in her presidential campaign this year.

Having served as a Senator and a presidential candidate in the 2008 race, she has spoken out in favor of equal pay for women, an increase in the minimum wage, better regulation, and corporate tax reform.

Regarding financial regulations, Clinton is currently under pressure to raise taxes on the wealthiest individuals and increase regulations on Wall Street.

Despite expressing support for tax increases for high-income families, and stating in 2010 that "the wealthy haven't contributed enough to the economy," Clinton received hundreds of millions of dollars in donations from companies, including Wall Street banks, for her campaign and charitable causes.

Clinton also considers climate change to be the most pressing issue facing the world. On that basis, the former US Secretary of State pledged to defend at all costs the regulations that the Obama administration is putting in place to limit carbon emissions from current and future power plants.

However, Clinton remained silent on the Keystone XL pipeline project, stating that she would not comment on an international issue that was "still open."
