During the 4-day friendship visit (May 2-6) in Vietnam, the Commander and crew of the Tonnerres will participate in many activities and meet with Vietnamese authorities at all levels in an effort to further strengthen the friendship and defense relations between France and Vietnam.
During this friendship visit to Vietnam, in addition to specialized forces, the French Navy warship arriving at Cam Ranh international port has about 200 officers and naval cadets from France and several other countries.
According to a press release from the French Embassy in Vietnam, the warship's visit takes place before the visit of the Minister of Defense in June and of the President of the French Republic in the fall of this year.
"This strongly demonstrates the spirit of goodwill and cooperation that is increasingly developing between the armies and the two governments of Vietnam and France. The visit is meaningful in further strengthening the friendly and defense relations between France and Vietnam," the statement said.
