The visit of the Indonesian Navy fleet aims to strengthen the friendly relations between the two armies in general and the two navies in particular; at the same time, it contributes to promoting the Vietnam - Indonesia Strategic Partnership to become increasingly deeper, more effective and practical.
During the visit, the commanders of two Indonesian Navy ships paid courtesy calls to the leaders of Military Region 7 Command, Navy, and Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
Officers and sailors of the two ships will compete in volleyball with students of the Naval Technical College, interact with students of the Vietnam Naval Academy and visit some of the city's famous landscapes.

It is known that the two ships 366 and 367 belong to the modern stealth frigate class Sigma, designed and built by Damen Group (Netherlands). The ship is 90.71m long, 13.2m wide, has a draft of 3.6m and a full load displacement of 1,692 tons.
Small, agile, and powerful, the Sigma class frigates play an important role in the Dutch and other navies around the world. The modular design of the Sigma class allows for maximum flexibility in design and reduced costs. The Sigma frigates feature advanced combat and communications capabilities, can carry a helicopter, and have a crew of 80.
The Sigma frigates' primary missions include patrolling the exclusive economic zone (EEZ), interdiction of intrusions, search and rescue (SAR), and anti-submarine warfare.
The Sigma class frigates are built using an advanced modular method. This allows countries to choose from a variety of configurations with different sizes, such as Morocco choosing the Sigma 9813 (98m long, 13m wide), Indonesia choosing the Sigma 9113 (91m long, 13m wide) and 10514 (105m long, 13m wide).
Sigma is equipped with 2 Diesel engines with a capacity of 23,000hp, CODAD propulsion system helps the ship reach a maximum speed of 27.5 nautical miles/h, cruising speed of 14 nautical miles/h allowing it to travel up to 4,800 nautical miles.
The ship is designed with optimal stealth with a very low superstructure, beveled corners that reduce radar reflection area, and the main engine system is designed to completely reduce vibration and noise.

The air defense missile system used is the VL MICA missile, a ship-based variant of the MICA air-to-air missile designed and manufactured by MBDA (France).
The ship is equipped with the TACTICOS command and control system and the LINK-Y MK2 tactical data transmission system; search/measurement systems include the MW08 air/sea radar, the SMART-SMK2 air-to-air electronically scanned array radar, the LIROD MK2 fire control radar and intermediate frequency active/passive sonar.
There is an electronic warfare system including electronic support reconnaissance system along with decoy missile launchers and jamming missiles.
For avionics, all Sigma variants are equipped with the SMART-S Mk2 air and sea surveillance radar system. According to Thales, the SMART-S Mk2 can detect stealth aircraft at a distance of 50km.
This radar system has 2 operating modes: if the antenna rotates at 13.5 rpm, the range is up to 200km; if it rotates at 27 rpm, the range is up to 150km with a total of 500 tracking targets (in the air and at sea).

The VL MICA missile weighs 112kg, is 3.1m long, has a 12kg explosive warhead, and is equipped with an SNPE solid fuel engine that allows it to destroy targets 11km away.
The ship is equipped with Exocet missiles. The missile weighs 670 kg, is 4.7 m long, has a diameter of 35 mm, has a warhead weight of 165 kg, a subsonic cruise speed of 315 m/s, uses an inertial guidance system in the cruise phase and an active radar in the terminal phase.
After being upgraded, the new Exocet Block 3 missile has double the range (180 km) compared to the Block 2 version. Along with that, Exocet Block 3 is also more flexible in choosing flight modes and attack trajectories to improve the ability to hit targets.
