Border guards protect border safety, celebrate Tet with locals

(Baonghean.vn) - As the Lunar New Year approaches, at the border posts in the Hanh Dich - Que Phong border area, officers and soldiers are still quietly performing their duties of protecting the border and maintaining security and order in the area.

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Quang Trung, Head of Hanh Dich Border Guard Station, said: "To have a spacious facility and create a cozy atmosphere, the unit has recently invested efforts and over 100 million VND to build and consolidate the barracks to ensure both regularity, green - clean - beauty and to make officers and soldiers feel secure in their attachment to the unit and their home because we affirm: "The station is home, the border is homeland, and ethnic people are blood brothers".

In preparation for the Lunar New Year, the unit has planned to closely coordinate with functional forces and local authorities to ensure a happy Tet and welcome spring with the people while completing its tasks well.

Captain Cao Van Cam, Deputy Political Commissar, said: “To help officers and soldiers on duty ease their homesickness, our unit has fully prepared facilities to celebrate Tet. In addition to the standard regimes as prescribed, the unit also saves on expenses and increases production to give each family of officers and soldiers of the unit a gift.

The unit also donated 20 million VND from the salaries and allowances of officers and soldiers to give 90 Tet gifts to poor households, policy families, poor students... in the area.

On New Year's Eve, there will also be a cultural exchange program, picking democratic flowers, inviting local people and local authorities to join in the fun with officers and soldiers, further strengthening the relationship between the army and the people...

Private Trinh Xuan Tho, from Cua Lo Town, confided: “This year is the first time I celebrate Tet away from home. Although I miss home and my family very much, I was assigned and encouraged by the unit command to volunteer to join the working group to go to the area to celebrate Tet happily and Spring with the people. I think this is also a source of pride because I have contributed with my comrades to protect the peace in the border. Moreover, celebrating Tet with the local people is also a beautiful memory in my military life.”

With the spirit of "Enjoying the New Year, not forgetting the duty", officers and soldiers of Hanh Dich Border Guard Station both perform the duty of protecting the border and maintaining security and order in the border area so that people can enjoy Tet and welcome Spring./.
