Young soldier returns wallet full of money to person who dropped it

(Baonghean.vn) - While on duty, Private Nguyen Van Truong - a soldier of Division 324 (Military Region 4) picked up a wallet containing nearly 12 million VND and personal documents, and returned it to the owner.

At 4:00 p.m. on September 26, Private First Class Nguyen Van Truong - a soldier of Platoon 4, Company 2, Battalion 7, Regiment 3, Division 324 (Military Region 4), was assigned to fetch water to the garrison area to serve the officers and soldiers of the unit who were training and practicing.

On the way, Nguyen Van Truong picked up a black leather wallet in hamlet 8B, Thanh Phong commune, Thanh Chuong district, Nghe An province.

Checking the wallet, Private Nguyen Van Truong found an ID card with the name Nguyen Trong Dien (from Thanh Phong commune, Thanh Chuong district, Nghe An province) along with some other personal documents and the amount of 11,600,000 VND. Soldier Nguyen Van Truong reported to the unit commander to coordinate with the local authorities to notify and find the person who lost it.

Through verification, it was found that the owner was Mr. Nguyen Trong Dien. Upon receiving all of his lost property, Mr. Dien emotionally said: "I lost my wallet around 3-3:30 pm on September 26. My family and I went looking for it but could not find it. This was the money from selling the pigs to pay for my children's school fees and to continue buying another batch of pigs to raise."

Captain Hoang Van Duc - Political Commissar of Battalion 7, Regiment 3 said: Nguyen Van Truong is from Gia Pho commune, Huong Khe district, Ha Tinh province; enlisted in February 2017; is a soldier from a poor family, his parents are farmers in an area that is often flooded.

Sharing with us, Nguyen Van Truong said: "When I picked up the wallet, I thought of it as if it was a family member who had lost it. No matter how big or small the property is, if I found something lost, I had to return it to the owner. My teammates and I will do the same."
