Extracting gold from mobile phones

A group of scientists at the University of Edinburgh (UK) have just successfully developed a new method to help extract gold from discarded mobile phones most effectively.

More than 300 tonnes of gold are used to manufacture electronic devices each year, most of which are mobile phones. Therefore, it would be a waste if this precious metal was not used when users threw it away.
