The strange trick of the buffalo driver in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn)- Taking advantage of his friends' trust, Son borrowed many buffaloes and cows from families in Tan Ky district (Nghe An) to sell for spending and then fled to the Central Highlands.
On April 27, 2020, Tan Ky District People's Court tried the criminal case against Pham Dinh Son (born in 1970), residing in Nghia Hanh commune, Tan Ky district, for the crime of "Abuse of trust to appropriate property".
Son was known as a buffalo driver in Nghia Hanh commune, Tan Ky district. Taking advantage of this, Son came up with a unique scam, borrowing buffaloes and cows from friends to sell for money.
Son's first victim was Mr. Quy's family living in the same commune. Initially, Son came to Mr. Quy's house to borrow a buffalo for the harvest.
Later, Son sold this buffalo to a resident in Anh Son district for 34 million VND.

When the incident was discovered, Son fled the area. On April 17, 2014, the Investigation Police Agency of Tan Ky District Police issued a wanted notice. On December 28, 2019, Son was arrested by Nghe An Provincial Police in coordination with Dak Song District Police, Dak Nong Province according to the wanted notice.
During the investigation, Son only asked the family to compensate Mr. Quy 30 million VND. Up to now, Mr. Quy has not asked Son to compensate any more.
For those who bought Son's buffaloes and cows, they did not know that it was stolen property, so it did not constitute a crime.
At the end of the trial, the panel sentenced Pham Dinh Son to 36 months in prison and ordered him to compensate the four victims a total of over 120 million VND.
