Chile wants to expand economic and trade relations with Vietnam

On June 4, Vietnamese Ambassador to Chile Nguyen Ngoc Son presented his credentials to President of the Republic of Chile Sebastian Piñera Echenique. After the presentation of credentials, the President of Chile received Ambassador Nguyen Ngoc Son, also in attendance was Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Chile Alfonso Silva Navarro.

At the reception, President Piñera welcomed the new Vietnamese Ambassador to Chile and, through the Ambassador, conveyed his regards and best wishes to President Tran Dai Quang and Vietnamese leaders.

President Piñera highly appreciated Vietnam's impressive economic development achievements in recent years and recalled good memories during his visits to Vietnam, especially his official visit to Vietnam in March 2012 as President of Chile during his first term of office from 2010 to 2014.

Mr. Piñera also expressed his delight at the positive development of the cooperative and friendly relations between Chile and Vietnam over the past 45 years, and emphasized the need to further expand relations between the two countries, especially in the fields of economics and trade.

President Piñera also expressed his pleasure in welcoming the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to Chile on the occasion of attending the APEC 2019 Summit.

Ambassador Nguyen Ngoc Son conveyed the regards and invitation to visit Vietnam from President Tran Dai Quang to President Piñera and expressed his honor to be appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Republic of Chile.

The Ambassador also informed about the current situation in Vietnam and pledged that in his position, he will actively contribute to developing the already excellent friendship and cooperation between the Governments and peoples of the two countries./.
