(Baonghean.vn) - Considered a "nightingale in the mountains and forests of Western Nghe An", 20-year-old female student Pham Thi Thu Hien and her team just won the A prize in the 4th Provincial Folk Song Singing Contest in Schools in 2018.

Pham Thi Thu Hien is currently studying in class 9B at Nghia Dong Secondary School (Tan Ky). Hien was born into a farming family but has a passion for singing. Hien's grandparents were once key members of the once famous Dinh Se theater troupe.

Hien's father and aunt are currently the pillars of the Folk Song and Vi Dam Club of Nghia Dong commune.

Hien joined the Folk Song and Vi Dam Club of Nghia Dong Secondary School in 2014, right from its inception. Hien's older brother, Pham Tien Dung, also plays the guitar and flute very well.

Mr. Pham Van Xinh, Hien's father, said: "Hien was lucky to inherit his singing talent from his grandparents and parents. And luckier still, Hien grew up when the local folk singing movement was developing strongly, receiving attention and care... From there, his talent was nurtured and spread."

Recently, at the 2018 Provincial Folk Singing Contest in Schools, Hien, along with her teachers and a group of friends representing Nghia Dong Secondary School, participated and won the Encouragement Prize for Teammates. The performance “Father’s merit, mother’s gratitude, teacher’s gratitude” in which she played the main character won the A prize.

When her voice was heard, the whole audience was stunned by the very special voice of the 15-year-old girl. People's Artist Hong Luu highly appreciated Hien's voice: This is a promising voice, "deep, deep and mature beyond her age".

With that voice, along with the harmonious coordination of the instruments of the team members, the school won the highest prize in the joy and pride of teachers, friends and relatives. Immediately after the competition ended, the Vice Principal of Nghe An College of Culture and Arts, Master Vu Tien Vinh, gave the decision to directly admit him to the Folk Drama Actor program trained by the school.
