Kiev has less and less chance to oppose the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project, former Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Eduard Stavitskiy said.

Europe "needs a balance" between Britain cutting back on North Sea gas production and Germany and Belgium abandoning nuclear power, the former official said.
"Ukraine is losing its chance to survive this resistance," the former minister complained in an interview with NewsOne channel.
He stressed that Kiev's income will decrease at least twice because of "Turkish Stream" and "Nord Stream 2".
The politician also added that Russia's share in the EU gas market is about one-third.
"Europe consumes almost 425 billion cubic meters of gas per year. Last year Russia set a record and supplied about 150 billion cubic meters," the Ukrainian politician confirmed.
