Spanish government needs dialogue with Catalonia

(Baonghean.vn)- On October 1, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Federation Council (ie the Russian Senate), Konstantin Kosachev, said that Spanish authorities need to be aware that acts of violence against their own people could cause the state to collapse.

According to him, it is important to conduct dialogue with the Catalan people, instead of considering them as separatists.

“If the Spanish government continues to view the Catalan people as separatists, and even more so as terrorists, and if the number and location of polling stations remain under police control, which affects the dialogue, tensions will only increase, and independence supporters in the region will have more reasons to separate from Spain,” the official said.

Before it is too late, both Spain and Ukraine, as well as any other country facing similar problems, “must remember that a war against one’s own people can lead to the collapse of the state,” Kosachev stressed. “Therefore, a state needs to talk to its people, to reach a compromise. Like we are doing in Russia.”
