Government and sovereignty
(Baonghean) The success of the August Revolution affirmed the victory of the spiritual strength and power, the intellect and courage of a nation that knew how to unite, stand together, and rise up to "liberate itself with its own strength." Under the banner of the Party, our people rose up to shatter the shackles of more than 80 years of colonial and imperialist rule; putting an end to the feudal regime that lasted for centuries in our country, closing the tragic and humiliating chapters of history, and opening a glorious era of independence, freedom, and happiness.
Blood and tears, the burning hatred and desire for freedom of millions of people living in misery, slavery, and oppression... encountering the bright path of the era transformed into a revolutionary storm, overwhelming the traitors and invaders, seizing complete power for the people, establishing a State of the people, by the people, and for the people, giving birth to a new Vietnam, and restoring the nation's original form and identity on the world map.

Over the past 67 years, the Vietnamese people have made great strides on the path of simultaneously building, fighting, and successfully defending the immense and magnificent achievements of the August Revolution. Building the government and protecting national sovereignty and unity is the guiding principle that the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, and our people have upheld through countless difficulties, hardships, battles, and sacrifices. The Dien Bien Phu victory of 1954, the Great Spring Victory of 1975, the victories in the battles to defend the nation's borders, and the success of the Doi Moi (Renovation) process... continue to be glorious achievements bearing fruit in the era of national independence and socialism. The image of the bright red Vietnamese flag flying confidently and proudly alongside the flags of other nations before the United Nations monument, before the monuments of regions and associations of which Vietnam is a responsible participating member, always fills each of us with pride and reminds us of the red flag with a yellow star fluttering in Ba Dinh Square on September 2nd, 1945. It also reminds us to continue contributing and building to achieve more glorious victories, so that the cause of building the government and protecting national sovereignty becomes even more sustainable.
Gaining power is difficult, but maintaining it is even more challenging. That is a truth, and also an extremely noble and arduous mission that history has proven over the past 67 years. Overcoming countless difficulties and challenges, at times when the fate of the revolution hung in the balance, the Party, the State, and the people, through the strength of intellect and unity, have successfully shouldered the mission of protecting the government and maintaining sovereignty, achieving extremely glorious results and victories.
VI. Lenin, the great leader of the world's proletarian revolutionary movement, also clearly stated: "A revolution is only truly valuable if it knows how to defend itself." With the painful lessons learned from protecting and promoting the achievements of the August Revolution over the past seven decades, especially the achievements made in more than 25 years of implementing the reform policy, our country has made comprehensive and strong progress in terms of strength and position. We believe that these are solid foundations for us to continue building a strong government, worthy of ensuring stability for national development in the new situation, while maintaining our resolve, will, and stance on sovereignty, resolutely defending the territorial integrity of the country at all costs!
