OFFICIAL: 6 matches with VAR in round 1 of V-League 2024/25 have been finalized

With the addition of 2 more VAR vehicles from FIFA, bringing the total number of VAR vehicles to 4, Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company, the Executive Board of the National Professional Football Championship, has been able to expand its "coverage" on V-League pitches across the country, spanning the three regions of the North, Central and South.

Specifically, in the first round of the V-League 1 2024/25 season, VAR will accompany 6 out of 7 matches taking place on September 14 and 15: Dong A Thanh Hoa Club - B.Binh Duong Club, Hanoi Club - Quy Nhon Binh Dinh Club, Quang Nam Club - HAGL Club, SLNA Club - SHB Da Nang Club, Hai Phong Club - CAHN Club, Ho Chi Minh City Club - The Cong Viettel Club.

In the Central region, VAR will appear for the first time in the match between Quang Nam Club and HAGL Club at Hoa Xuan Stadium (Da Nang), in the Southern region, VAR will be available at Thong Nhat Stadium in the match between the host Ho Chi Minh City Club and The Cong Viettel Club. Hong Linh Ha Tinh vs. Thep Xanh Nam Dinh is the only match that will not use VAR technology.

The main referees of round 1 are expected to include referees Hoang Ngoc Ha, Nguyen Manh Hai, Nguyen Viet Duan, Ngo Duy Lan, Tran Dinh Thinh, Mai Xuan Hung. The VAR referees include referees Duong Huu Phuc, Mai Xuan Hung, Le Vu Linh...

At the draw and schedule ceremony of the 2024/25 Bia Sao Vang National First Division Football Tournament and the 2024/25 National Cup, Mr. Nguyen Minh Ngoc - General Director of VPF Company, Head of the Executive Board of Vietnam National Professional Football Championship shared: "VPF will strive to make this technology cover the V-League this season. Particularly for the National Cup, VAR is expected to appear in the semi-finals, finals, as well as the play-off match between the runner-up of the First Division and the team ranked 13/14 V.League competing for the last spot in the V-League 2025/26.

Regarding foreign players, the VFF Standing Committee decided that clubs participating in AFF and AFC tournaments can register a maximum of 5 foreign players in the V-League, but each match can only register and use a maximum of 3 players like previous teams.

According to research, in the 2024/25 season, V-League will remove the rule that clubs must use at least 2-3 young players/match.

"There are also many opinions and discussions about the option of introducing a regulation requiring clubs to use at least 2-3 young players in a match. However, in reality, it is difficult to apply and there may arise cases where clubs have ways to deal with that regulation.

After careful consideration, we decided not to include that regulation in the charter," Mr. Tran Anh Tu - Vice President of VFF, Chairman of the Board of Directors of VPF Company affirmed.
