(Baonghean.vn) - Cong Kep Water, a natural spring flowing from the top of Sac Mountain (Khanh Son commune, Nam Dan district). The clear, sweet water has attracted many people from all over to come and collect water.
To ensure security and order in this area, since 2010, the Cong Kep stream has been allowed by the People's Committee of Khanh Son commune to be invested in and exploited by Mr. Nguyen Trong Lich from Hamlet 14, Khanh Son I commune, who pays the commune 120 million VND annually. Since then, people who want to use water from Cong Kep have to buy it. For many years, many families in the commune and surrounding areas have been accustomed to using Cong Kep water for drinking year-round without boiling it. On intensely hot days, people flock and queue in long lines to buy Cong Kep water.
| At just 7 a.m., the main area around Cong Kep stream (Khanh Son, Nam Dan) was already bustling with people buying water. |
| People lined up in order, waiting for their turn to buy. |
| Cans are lined up in long rows waiting for… water. |
| The water flowing from the foot of the mountain has been channeled through a system of pipes to easily fill individual containers. |
| At the main point of the Cong Kep stream, there are only two water taps, so many people have to wait from 4 am until almost 8 am before it's their turn to place their containers to get water. |
| Cong Kep water is a clear, cool, and sweet natural water source that has been certified as safe for consumption. According to local people, Cong Kep water is "warm in winter, cool in summer, and very wholesome." |
| Each 20-liter water container is sold for 1,000 VND to residents of the commune and 3,000 VND to those outside the commune. If you buy both the container and the water, the price for a 20-liter container is 60,000 VND. |
| Even on hot days, locals and people from neighboring areas still flock to buy water. |
| Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan, residing in Hamlet 7, Nam Phuc Commune, Nam Dan District, buys Cong Kep water for her family to drink year-round. She regularly buys one 20-liter container per week, but on hot days, she has to buy up to three containers, nearly 50 liters in total. |
| Locals and people from surrounding areas are accustomed to drinking water from Cong Kep year-round, so every time they come here, everyone makes sure to buy 2-3 cans of water to use gradually over several days. |
| Besides the main water source, several households at the foot of the mountain also draw water from Cong Kep stream to sell. Ms. Ha Thi Tam's family, in Hamlet 14, Khanh Son I commune, draws water from the stream to sell; on hot days, she sells 3-4 tanks of 1,000 liters each (three to four times more than usual). |
| However, because he only "prefers" to use the water from Cong Kep at the main point of the stream, even though he has to wait a very long time, from 5 am to over 8 am and still not get his turn, under the scorching sun, Mr. Nguyen Van Sang from Hamlet 7, Nam Kim Commune (more than 6 km from the water purchase point) still perseveres, "the main thing is to be able to buy water." |
