Coach Ronald Koeman seems to be aiming for the position of his colleague Luis Enrique at Barcelona so he is in no hurry to renew his contract with Everton.

According to Spanish press, coach Koeman is one of the candidates being considered by Barcelona's board of directors in case they part ways with Luis Enrique at the end of this season.

Enrique's position is under serious threat after Barcelona suffered a 0-4 defeat at PSG in the first leg of the Champions League knockout round. The Nou Camp team also performed poorly in La Liga, finishing in second place.

Spanish media believe that Barcelona's board of directors may end their cooperation with coach Enrique at the end of this season. Therefore, they have drawn up a list of potential candidates, in which Koeman, Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool) and Jorge Sampaoli (Sevilla) are the most highly rated.

Among them, Koeman has the advantage of having played for Barcelona. Returning to the Nou Camp as a coach is certainly something the Dutch coach cannot refuse. Therefore, he is in no hurry to renew his contract with Everton.

"No, not now," Koeman replied when asked if he would renew his contract with Barcelona. "It's true that there is information about me and Barcelona. There are always rumors like that in football. However, I don't think anyone renews their contract in the first season of a three-year contract. Let's wait and see what happens in the future," coach Koeman continued.

Coach Koeman is quite successful when leading Everton this season. Liverpool team is currently ranked 7th in the Premier League table with 41 points.
