Dong Van Hydropower Plant Investor Fined for Building Illegal Altar

(Baonghean.vn) - The People's Committee of Que Phong district has just fined the investor of the Dong Van hydropower project for illegally building a Buddhist altar within the land reserved for roads and forced it to relocate and restore the original status.

According to the Administrative Violation Record No. 30/BB-VPHC established by the Department of Economy & Infrastructure of Que Phong district and the People's Committee of Dong Van commune on March 13, 2017, the Buddhist altar was built by the Investor of Dong Van Hydropower Project at Km 194 + 654 National Highway 16.

Pursuant to Decree 46/2016/ND-CP dated May 26, 2016 of the Government regulating administrative sanctions for violations in the field of road and railway traffic, violating Point a, Clause 8, Article 12: Illegal construction of permanent structures within the land area reserved for roads.

Pursuant to the Administrative Violation Record No. 30/BB-BBHC and legal regulations, on March 17, 2017, the People's Committee of Que Phong district issued Decision No. 160/QD-UBND on administrative sanctions in the field of road traffic against the investor of Dong Van hydropower project, Dakrong Hydropower Joint Stock Company, with a fine of 40 million VND.

Also in Decision No. 160, the People's Committee of Que Phong district requested Dakrong Hydropower Joint Stock Company (investor of Dong Van Hydropower project) "to relocate the illegal construction and restore the original state that was changed due to administrative violations"; "If not complied, enforcement will be enforced".

In October 2016, Nghe An Newspaper reported on the case of the investor of Dong Van Hydropower Project illegally mining stone and constructing a Buddha statue; then, in November 2016, Que Phong District People's Committee fined the illegal mining of construction stone with a fine of 50 million VND.
