Proactive measures to deal with the tropical depression approaching the South China Sea.

This morning (June 13), the Standing Office of the Central Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control, and the Office of the National Committee for Search and Rescue issued dispatch No. 03 to the Flood and Storm Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue Commands of coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Khanh Hoa; and the Ministries of National Defense, Foreign Affairs, Agriculture and Rural Development, and Transport regarding proactive measures to cope with the tropical depression.

The official dispatch stated: According to the Central Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting Center, the low-pressure area in the northeastern part of the East Sea has strengthened into a tropical depression.

At 7:00 AM on June 13th, the center of the tropical depression was located at approximately 19.8 degrees North latitude and 116.8 degrees East longitude. The strongest winds near the center of the tropical depression were at level 6, gusting to levels 7 and 8. The forecast for the next 24 hours is that the tropical depression will mainly move northeast, at a speed of about 5-10 km per hour. By 7:00 AM on June 14th, the center of the tropical depression will be located at approximately 21.5 degrees North latitude and 118.5 degrees East longitude, with the strongest winds near the center reaching level 6, gusting to levels 7 and 8. Due to the influence of the tropical depression, the northeastern part of the East Sea will experience strong winds of level 6, gusting to levels 7 and 8; the sea will be rough.

To proactively respond to the tropical depression, the Office of the Central Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control and the Office of the National Committee for Search and Rescue request that the Flood and Storm Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue Commands of provinces, cities, ministries, and sectors direct the implementation of monitoring and counting of vessels operating at sea, and inform the owners of vessels operating at sea about the location, direction of movement, and development of the tropical depression so that they can proactively take preventive measures.

Regularly monitor the development of tropical depressions, strictly manage the departure of vessels, and maintain constant communication with vessel owners to promptly handle any adverse situations that may arise. Maintain rescue and relief forces and equipment to be ready to respond when needed.
