(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of May 19, 2014, a delegation from the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army, led by Lieutenant General Ngo Xuan Lich – Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Head of the General Political Department, visited and worked with the Nghe An Provincial Military Command. Accompanying the delegation was Lieutenant General Mai Quang Phan – Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Deputy Head of the General Political Department.

The delegation was received and worked with by leaders of Military Region 4 and the Provincial Military Command. Representing Nghe An province were comrades: Ho Duc Phoc – Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Huynh Thanh Dien – Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

At the meeting, on behalf of the officers and soldiers, Colonel Ha Tan Tien – Commander of the Nghe An Provincial Military Command – reported to the delegation on the results of military and national defense tasks in the first six months of 2014. Accordingly, the Provincial Military Command proactively led, directed, and effectively implemented military and national defense tasks and other tasks assigned by higher authorities, thereby consolidating security and national defense. In particular, the Provincial Military Command proactively coordinated closely with other forces to closely monitor the situation in the area, and advised the province on many solutions to maintain political security and social order, contributing to the promotion of socio-economic development.

During the working session, Comrade Ho Duc Phoc, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, informed General Ngo Xuan Lich and the delegation about some highlights of Nghe An province's economic and social situation. Accordingly, at the end of 2013, the province's GDP growth rate was quite high; per capita income reached nearly 24 million VND/year; budget revenue exceeded 6,400 billion VND, ranking first in the North Central region; social security was ensured, the poverty rate decreased to 12.5%; and the education sector achieved many significant successes. Building on these achievements, Nghe An will continue to focus on maintaining security and national defense and successfully implementing Resolution No. 26-NQ/TƯ of the Politburo on the direction and tasks for the development of Nghe An until 2020, in order to build an increasingly prosperous Nghe An.

Concluding the working session, Lieutenant General Ngo Xuan Lich acknowledged and highly appreciated the proactive and astute approach of the provincial leaders and defense and security forces in grasping and handling the situation, contributing to maintaining political stability and socio-economic development. Regarding future tasks, Lieutenant General Ngo Xuan Lich requested the Provincial Military Command to continue to promote strengths; overcome limitations; do a good job of educating the ideology and political fortitude of officers and soldiers; build a comprehensively strong unit; and be ready to undertake assigned tasks. The Provincial Military Command should continue to focus on advising the local Party committee and government; proactively coordinate with other forces to maintain national defense and security, creating a foundation for the increasingly developed Nghe An./.
