(Baonghean.vn) - In response to the storm, Quynh Luu district, Hoang Mai town and a number of tourist beaches have proactively directed localities and Border Guard stations in the area to urgently call on vehicle owners to return to places to avoid and take shelter from the storm, ensuring safety for people and tourists.

Tien Thuy Commune, Quynh Luu District is the locality with the largest number of vessels in the district with 313, of which offshore fishing vessels with a capacity of 90 CV or more are 161. To avoid storm No. 1 making landfall in the northern waters of the Gulf of Tonkin, many offshore fishing vessels have received information about the storm and have returned to Lach Quen Port (Tien Thuy) to anchor safely this morning, June 23.

Ship owner Bui Ket (54 years old, in Quynh Nghia commune), owner of fishing boat NA 93613, along with crew members, was transporting seafood from the hold to the port after returning from the sea to avoid the storm. He said: "My fishing boat was fishing at latitude 19, longitude 106 East when I heard on the radio that storm No. 1 was forming and would make landfall in the northern waters of the Gulf of Tonkin, our country. Hearing the news, I called using the walkie-talkie system to contact some fishing boats nearby to quickly pack up their nets and return to the mainland before the storm made landfall."

Quynh Luu district currently has 1,214 vessels, including nearly 800 vessels with a capacity of 20 CV or more. As of the afternoon of June 23, nearly 900 vessels of fishermen in Quynh Luu district have returned to safe anchorage, some remaining vessels are on their way back and moving to avoid the storm in Cat Ba and Da Nang to ensure absolute safety before storm No. 1.

To proactively prevent storms, the Flood and Storm Prevention and Search and Rescue Command of Quynh Luu district coordinates with the Quynh Thuan Border Guard Station to regularly contact ships operating at sea to inform them of the storm's developments and direction so that they can proactively avoid it. At the same time, check the anchoring position of ships to avoid collisions that can damage the vehicles.

In Hoang Mai town, the authorities are urgently deploying the work of preventing storm No. 1. The whole town has 924 vessels, of which 398 have a capacity of 90 CV or more. After receiving information that storm No. 1 will make landfall in the northern Gulf of Tonkin and affect the northern provinces, causing heavy rain and strong winds, Hoang Mai town quickly directed coastal communes such as Quynh Lap, Quynh Phuong... to urgently call on owners of fishing boats offshore to return to the anchorage.

Therefore, as of this afternoon, June 23, people's boats and ships have returned to Lach Con port to anchor safely, while the remaining nearly 200 vehicles are moving to avoid the storm in locations not affected by the storm.

Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Cua Lo Town, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duc, said: As a coastal tourist town, Cua Lo always focuses on natural disaster prevention and search and rescue. After receiving news that storm No. 1 was moving into the East Sea and had a wind gust of level 10, the town's Natural Disaster Prevention Command Committee directed the People's Committees of wards and related units to announce on the ward's public address system and the beach public address system to warn people and tourists.

Members of the town's PCTT and TKCN Command Board are ready to directly go down to the base to direct. The Town's Rescue and Disaster Prevention Center is ready to deploy immediately when there is a sea ban to ensure the safety of tourists. In addition, in the town, there are 272 fishing boats of fishermen operating in the offshore area that have been promptly notified. By 7:30 this morning, 156 boats had returned to shore, and other boats were also entering the dock.

Storm No. 1 with strong winds at the center of the storm at level 8 (about 60 to 75km per hour), gusting at level 9-10, is moving into the Gulf of Tonkin in a northwest direction, traveling about 10-15km per hour, making landfall and gradually weakening into a tropical depression.

Forecast by 10am on June 24, the center of the tropical depression is at about 22.1 degrees North latitude; 106.9 degrees East longitude, on the Vietnam - China border area. The strongest wind in the area near the center of the tropical depression is level 6 (ie about 40 to 50km per hour), gusting to level 7-8. The forecast level of natural disaster risk is level 3.
