AFC President wants Australian national team to "learn" Vietnamese football
AFC President Salman wants the success of U23 Vietnam to inspire the Australian team to do well at the World Cup.
During the recent Asian Football Confederation (AFC) seminar held in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), AFC President Salman Bin Ibrahim Al-Khalifa mentioned the historic achievement of U23 Vietnam to praise the success of Southeast Asian football in the past year.
Specifically, Mr. Salman highly appreciated the performance of Coach Park Hang Seo and his team in China. The AFC President said that Vietnamese football has helped Southeast Asian football to be proud at the continental level.
On the Asian Football Confederation's homepage, President Salman said: "The Southeast Asian Football Confederation plays an important role in the development of football in the continent. ASEAN has achieved great achievements in recent times. In particular, Vietnamese football has reached the final of the U23 Asian Cup in China, a great achievement."
After emphasizing the importance of Vietnam's football achievements, Mr. Salman also hoped that the success of U23 Vietnam would inspire the development of Southeast Asian football. In particular, the AFC President hoped that Australia (joining the Southeast Asian Football Federation since 2013) would 'learn' the spirit of U23 Vietnam to compete well at the upcoming 2018 World Cup.
Currently, the pillars of U23 Vietnam such as Xuan Truong, Quang Hai, Tien Dung or Cong Phuong... are preparing to gather with the Vietnam team to participate in the match against Jordan in the Asian Cup qualifiers taking place on the 27th.
